SARA LEFMAN
DVM, DACVECC
Emergency / Critical Care

Dr. Lefman is originally from Massachusetts, but has slowly moved westward over her lifetime. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Pre-Veterinary Studies from UMASS Amherst, and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University. She completed a rotating internship at the Ohio State University before traveling to New York City for her residency in Emergency/Critical Care at the Animal Medical Center. Her residency was complete in 2017, and she briefly worked in San Francisco before traveling back to New York City for several more years.

In search of sunshine and a coastal life, Dr. Lefman relocated to Los Angeles in 2026 and began working at MASH. Her clinical interests include treatment of toxicities, electrolyte disorders, sepsis, shock and post-operative management. She enjoys lecturing and teaching, and currently serves as MASH’s Director of Continuing Education. She believes that through better client education, owners can play a bigger part in their pet’s recovery and feel more included and empowered.

Outside of work, Dr. Lefman enjoys going to the beach, cycling, traveling, going to concerts (a lover of house music), and hanging out with her husband and two cats, Moxie and Marty.
